Sorry for the lack of prospect updates recently, I've been either busy or haven't had my laptop with me. Here's a quick recap of what went down the past three days:

  • Mike Ashmore has started a series of interviews with pitching coach Tommy Phelps discussing different prospects. So far, he has discussed Wilkins De La Rosa and Michael Dunn, two hard throwing lefties who both happen to be converted outfielders.
  • Steven Jackson was claimed by the Pirates off waivers, and the Yankees received nothing in return.
  • Chien-Ming Wang's locker is empty today in Scranton according to Chad Jennings. Mike Axisa at River Ave Blues. guesses that he is headed to New York and should start friday for the Yanks. I would've liked to see Wang make another Triple-A start, since he only got 1 strikeout in his last outing and his velocity may still be down a tick. I do trust that the Yankees wouldn't bring him to the majors yet if they didn't think he was ready.
Here are some notable performances from 5/15 - 5/18

  • Mark Melancon had two outings, one good one and one bad one. He gave up 3 ER in 1 IP yesterday and had 1.2 shutout innings in a previous outing.
  • Austin Jackson has went 2 for his last 13
  • Carmen Angelini is 4 for his last 13 with a BB
  • Jesus Montero was 0 for 8 with 2 BB
  • Austin Romine was 4 for 14 with a HR and a double
  • Jeremy Bleich had a strong outing, pitching 7 innings, giving up 1 ER while striking out 5 and walking 2
  • Andrew Brackman had a decent start, going 5 innings, giving up 2 ER on 2 BB and 2 Ks.
  • Dellin Betances had another good start, but has continued to walk to many batters this season. He pitched 6 innings, gave up 1 ER while racking up 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.
  • Zach McAllister continued to pitch well, going 7 innings and giving up just 1 ER. He walked 1, but his BB/9 is at 3.18 this year after being around an awesome 1.25 last season.
