Austin Jackson-AAA-OF
2-for-6, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR (3), 1 RBI
Jackson went long again in the second game of double header raising the total to 3 on the year. The increase in power is probably making Yankee fans a worry a little less about that sky high BABIP and alarming K numbers. Here's to hoping he can keep it up.
Austin Romine-A+-C
2-for-5, 1 R, 1 HR (10), 2 RBIs, 1 CS
Romine continues to hit but the concerns about the plate discipline continue. This man does not walk, at least not now, but has continued to show solid hitting ability and some pop. He's certainly living up to expectations so far this season.
Robert Lyerly-R-3B
3-for-4, 2 R, 2 2B
Lyerly is a lefty hitting 3rd baseman who supposedly has a good bat. He was our 6th rounder from UNC Charlotte this year and he had his first big game tonight. He should hit for a bit of power and has put up big numbers in college but slipped in the draft because of an injury. I personally like Lyerly a lot and will certainly be keeping an eye on him.
Neill Medchill-R-OF
2-for-4, 1 R, 1 2B
The lefty hitting outfielder Medchill had another nice outing for Staten Island tonight. Medchill was the first draftee to sign this year: the 11th rounder is a talented and well rounded hitter out of Oklahoma State. He's a bit new to outfield so there might be some growing pains. He's also struck out a bit much early but its been a nice debut for Medchill this year.
Matthew Richardson-GCL-RHP
First two Starts: 2-0, 0.83 ERA, 11 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
Richardson was the 2008 15th rounder out of a Florida high school and he's certainly been something of note early on. The 19 year old has displayed good command this year and last and gets a lot of ground ball outs. Richardson isn't going to leave anyone gaping at this point but maybe he's someone to watch in the future.
