Amaury Sanit-AAA-RHP

2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K

Not an extraordinary line for Mr. Sanit but notable because he made his first debut with AAA after starting the season in A ball. Sanit is a relief specialist that may be coming to a Yankee squad near you- he features a mid 90's fastball with some movement and a breaking ball with decent command. The Cuban defector signed in 2008. Maybe their promoting Sanit as an elaborate ploy for Aroldis Chapman, the lefty super-prospect who recently defected as well. Or maybe it's just because Sanit's pitched well so far.

Jorge Vazquez-AA-1B

2-for-4, 2 R

Vazquez is a hitter. He doesn't so much like to walk (8 BB/31K) but he sure likes hitting (.332/.363/.584) in what is a pretty big pitchers park. Apparently from reading the indispensable Mr. Ashmore Vazquez is a somewhat atrocious fielder who is just frightening to observe. He's also 27 and a 10 year vet of the Mexican league. He does like to hit though.

Melky Mesa-A-OF

1-for-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 SB, 1 CS

Melky's an interesting guy. While he leads the league in HRs and also has 10 SB along with 57 RBIs, Melky has struck out an impressive 97 times in 81 games. It's very Mark Reynolds-esqe. The 22 year old would be really interesting if he didn't strike out in 1/3 of his ABs, what with the power and the speed and the laser rocket arm he has out there (tons of assists this year). Cutting down on the Ks remains a huge priority.

Eduardo Sosa-GCL-OF

1-for-3, 1 SB, 1 BB

Sosa is the other exciting GCL prospect not named Kelvin De Leon in the outfield. Sosa is a burner, 30 SB's last year in the Dominican summer league and he can also hit quite well. What I really like about Sosa so far is that he's been able to take some walks and has a good approach at the plate. He's just 18 and has a long way to go but the future is bright for Sosa.
