Charleston loses to Augusta 8-7
David Phelps: 4 IP, 7 Hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K - John Sickels thinks he's a player to watch, but he got knocked around a bit today.
Carmen Angelini: 1 for 5 with a K - had 2 errors to bring him to 10 on the young season.
Wilkins de la Rosa got his first start of the season after being called up from extended spring training and impressed with 4 shutout innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out 3. This is a guy to watch as he could advance quickly into the Yankees bullpen since he was added to the Yankees 40 man roster. He allowed just 60(!) hits in 90 innings last season.
Jesus Montero: 2 for 4 with a K - ups average to .367
Austin Romine: 1 for 3 with a sac fly
Trenton defeats New Britain 4-1:
Zack McAllister: 7 IP, 2 hits allowed, 1 earned run, no walks and 4 strikeouts - Good to see no walks from him, but he allowed more fly balls than grounders today.
Michael Dunn: 2 IP, 1 BB, 3 Ks and 3 ground outs - Dominating performance from him. The Yankees have quite a few lefty bullpen arms in the system right now. Now has a 15:2 K:BB in 8.2 innings, absolutely filthy.
Francisco Cervelli: 0 for 3 - bringing his average down to .167
DH Jorge Vazquez: 2 for 4 with a home run in his first game - He's a 27 year old out of the Mexican league, appears to have some pop with 18 HRs in 224 at bats in the Mexican League.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had a day off today.
