After a long, busy, eventful summer, I'm back at Providence College. I never could have imagined how both productive and time consuming my internship would be, and I sincerely apologize for my absence here. I love blogging, and it was sad to not do have the time to do it over the past 3 months.
I'm currently writing a big-picture season review for the system. For now, some important links:
In addition to Pending Pinstripes, MVN has contracted me to work for MVN Outsider. Every Tuesday and Friday morning, you can read my thoughts outside of the Yankee farm system - on baseball in general, how we analyze young players, and hows organizations can build winning teams. I am honored to be selected as one of a handful of MVN writers for the job. You can access the blog
here.
Brent over at The Bronx Block just did fans of the Yankee farm system a tremendous service. He videotaped Pat Venditte,
Jeremy Bleich, and Jon Albaladejo at Staten Island the other night. His video is invaluable and his commentary is inciteful.
Check it out.
Peter Abraham
has a list of the 36 Yankee invitees to their fall instructional league. Pretty much every name listed should be as expected, but take a look at that catching squad.
Jesus Montero, Austine Romine, Francisco Cervelli,
Kyle Higashioka, and Chase Weems? That has to be the best group of young catchers ever to grace a mini-camp.
Something
might be wrong with Marc Melancon. He pitched a ton of innings this year, right off of Tommy John surgery. The Yankees probably shut him down for precautionary reasons.
