After dominating the IL playoffs with relative ease, Phil Hughes was officially called up right after last night's game. He's probably not going to pitch anytime soon, but for now this was the right thing to do. Hopefully today's tail end of the doubleheader will spell the end for Sidney Ponson. That way when Ponson's next turn comes around, Phil Hughes will take over and carry his recent Triple A success into the big leagues and make the most of an essentially lost season. Update: David Robertson called up as well.
