- Phil Hughes got the start and was downright filthy, ballin', and sick. In 8 masterful innings of work, Phil scattered 4 hits, walked none, and struck out 11. He did this on 94 pitches, 75 of them going for strikes. Finally, the real Phil Hughes stood up! Now, if he had only done this on a consistent basis 5 months earlier, with the NY Yankees of course.
- Shelley Duncan was 1 for 4 with the game winning walk-off 2 run homerun.
- Justin Christian and Bernie Castro were 1 for 4. Bernie doubled.
- Eric Duncan, Chris Stewart, and Ben Broussard were 0 for 3.
- Juan Miranda was 0 for 4.
- Flashback: This start by Phil Hughes is a little reminiscent of another playoff start Phil had a couple of years ago. Remember? Anyway, if you guys don't, I'm sure you guys remember another playoff appearance by Phil Franchise. My point is that Phil is money in big game situations. Now, if he could only stay healthy from now on.
