Scranton tops Charlotte, 5-4 (11 innings)
  • Jeff Marquez had a solid start, but was not helped by his defense.  In 6 innings, the sinkerballer gave up 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and no walks, while striking out 3.  His groundout:flyout ratio was 7:7.
  • Dave Robertson did much better in his 2nd outing in Scranton, giving up just a walk in 2 innings of work, and striking out 1.
  • Alberto Gonzalez was 1 for 5.
  • Cody Ransom was 1 for 5 with a triple.
  • Eric Duncan, JD Closser and Matt Carson were each 1 for 4.
  • Bernie Castro was 1 for 3.
  • Brett Gardner was out of the lineup tonight, but pinch-ran and stole 3rd in the 11th inning, and scored the winning run.
Trenton over Erie, 7-2
  • Jason Jones got the start, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings, while striking out 3.
  • Anthony Claggett, in his 2nd outing since returning from injury, gave up just 1 hit in 3 scoreless innings, and struck out 1.
  • Kevin Russo was 1 fo r4 with a walk and a steal.
  • Austin Jackson was 1 for 4 with a walk, a double, and a strikeout.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was 2 for 5.
  • Jose Tabata was 1 for 3 with a walk to raise his average to .237.
  • Carlos Mendoza was 3 for 4 with a double.
  • Reegie Corona was 1 for 3 with a walk and a steal.
Tampa beats Brevard County, 4-2
  • Alfredo Aceves, the 25 year-old signee from Mexico, got the start.  In 5 1/3 innings, he gave up 1 run on 1 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 6.
  • Mark Melancon gave up 2 hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings, surrendering an unearned run and striking out 2.
  • Damon Sublett was 2 for 3.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 5.
  • Mitch Hilligoss and Josue Calzado were 1 for 4.  Calzado also stole 2 bases.
  • Seth Cooper was 3 for 3 with a walk.
  • Tim Battle was 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk
Charleston defeats Asheville, 7-6 (13 innings)
  •  Jason Stephens got the start and pitched very well, giving up just 2 hits in 5 shutout innings, while striking out 2.
  • Wilkins De La Rosa struggled, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 1 2/3 innings.  He did strike out 4, however.
  • Chase Vacek pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings.
  • Abe Almonte was 0 for 1 before leaving for a pinch-hitter in the 3rd.  I imagine he has some kind of injury, and will update when I find out.
  • Jesus Montero was 3 for 6 with a homer in the top of the 13th that drove in the winning run.  He also caught all 13 innings, and was 0 for 3 in throwing basestealers out.
  • Braedyn Pruitt was 3 for 7.
  • Brian Baisley was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk.
  • Austin Krum was 3 for 5 with a walk.
