Scranton shuts out Charlotte, 4 to 0.
  • Ian Kennedy could not have been better, pitching 7 1/3 innings without allowing a run or a walk. He allowed just 1 hit, a single, and struck out 8. It took him 89 pitches. To use the powerful cliche, reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. If Kei Igawa has a bad start or two, Kennedy could find his way up to the majors very quickly. Chad Jennings said, "Hard to overstate how good Kennedy looks."
  • Heath Phillips capped the shutout, pitching an inning and 2/3, allowing only one hit.
  • Brett Gardner was 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Justin Christian was 1 for 4.
  • Eric Duncan sat out for the day.
Trenton beats Erie 5 to 1.
  • Daniel McCutchen started, pitching 7 1/3 inning and allowing just 1 run, a solo home run. He struck out 4, walked 2, and allowed 4.  Its only a matter of time before McCutchen takes Dan Giese's place in the Scranton rotation.
  • James Cox allowed a run in an inning and 2/3, walking two and striking out one.
  • Colin Curtis was 2 for 4 with a triple.
  • Austin Jackson was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.
  • P.J. Pilittere was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Jose Tabata was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Tampa beats Juniper, 5 to 4 in 10 innings.
  • Mike Dunn got the start, with mixed results. He pitched 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and just 1 walk, but allowed 4 runs thanks to a string of doubles in the 6th inning. Still, he's been solid this season.
  • Damon Sublett was 2 for 4 with a double.
  • Seth Fortenberry was 1 for 5.
  • Kyle Anson was 2 for 3 with 2 walks. He has been this season's version of Francisco Cervelli, getting on base without a lot of power. He's now hitting .300/.456/.413, and should get heavy consideration for a spot on Pending Pinstripes' mid-season prospect list.
  • Braedyn Pruitt was 1 for 4, now batting a clean .100.
Charleston beats Hickory, 7 to 4.
  • Lance Pendleton, still filling in as a starter for the injured Jairo Heredia, pitched 4 1/3 1-hit innings, striking out 3 and walking 2 without allowing a run. He's a sleeper to evolve into a decent relief prospect, but the Yankees are probably going to hide him (along with De La Rosa) in Charleston for most of the season, to avoid the Rule V draft.
  • Justin Snyder was 2 for 3 with a walk and a double.
  • Abraham Almonte was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk.
  • Carmen Angelini (batting 2nd), Jesus Montero, Austin Krum, and Gerald Laird were all hitless. Montero walked.
Definitely a fruitful day for Yankee pitching. Yankee hitting? Not so much.
