Scranton defeats Rochester, 6-3
  • Jeff Marquez got the start, and although hittable, was good enough for the win. In 6 innings, Jeff gave up 3 runs on 10 hits (1 homer) and 2 walks, while striking out 2. In addition, Jeff had a 10-4 groundout-flyout ratio.
  • J.B. Cox allowed a hit in one shutout inning.
  • Scott Patterson allowed a hit but struck out 2 in an inning of relief.
  • Brett Gardner was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk.
  • Alberto Gonzalez and Ben Broussard were 1 for 4. Ben's hit happened to be a double.
  • Eric Duncan was 3 for 5 with a double, a homerun (5th of season), and 3 RBIs. He was able to raise his batting average to .250 with today's strong showing.
  • Jason Lane was 0 for 3 with 2 walks.
Trenton loses to New Brittain, 2-1
  • Jose Tabata was not suspended or benched today, which is a shame. Anyway, he was 1 for 4 with a run scored.
  • Alfredo Aceves was the hard luck loser in this one, pitching 7 innings of 2 run ball, allowing 9 hits while striking out 5. He did however have a 3-12 groundout-flyout ratio.
  • Steven Jackson allowed a hit and a walk but no further in his scoreless inning of relief.
  • Ramiro Pena, Colin Curtis, and Joey Muich were 1 for 4. Colin, to his credit, also threw out a runner at home.
  • Austin Jackson and Cody Ehlers were 0 for 4.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was 2 for 4 with a double. Ahem, promotion anyone?
  • Kevin Russo was 2 for 4.
  • Reegie Corona was 0 for 3 with a walk.
Tampa loses to Fort Myers, 7-1
  • Ivan Nova got the start and was terrible, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits and 5 walks in just 5 innings of work, while punching out 5.
  • Edgar Soto allowed 2 hits and a walk in his 2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out 2 in the process.
  • Eduardo Nunez, Mitch Hilligross, Josue Calzado, and Chris Kunda were hitless in their respective at-bats. Josue also had a walk.
  • Andres Perez and James Cooper were 1 for 4 with a double each.
  • Jose Gil was 2 for 4.
  • Kevin Smith was 1 for 3 with a double.
  • Tim Battle was also 1 for 3.
Charleston shuts out Hickory, 5-0
  • Jason Stephens got the start and was downright filthy. In shutout 7 innings of 6 hit ball, Jason struck out 12 batters and had a 8-1 groundout-flyout ratio! This 23 year old is basically begging for a promotion, as he has pitched to the tune of a 1.64 ERA for the season.
  • Craig Heyer allowed a hit in his inning of relief.
  • Jesse Hoover allowed 3 hits but somehow managed to pitch a scoreless inning.
  • Abe Almonte was 3 for 4 with a double, raising his average to .293. Boy, it's great to see him back.
  • Justin Snyder was 1 for 4.
  • Jesus Montero, catching, and Brandon Laird were 0 for 4.
  • Austin Romine, DH'ing, and Carmen Angelini were 1 for 4.
  • Walter Ibarra was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Austin Krum was 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs.
