The Yankees defeated the Phillies at Clearwater today by the score of 9-3. Chien-Ming Wang started the game with 2 shutout innings of one hit ball while the Yankees offense got the ball rolling via a three run homerun by Shelley Duncan in the first. In terms of Yankee prospects, the true highlight of the game belonged to Jesus Montero, as he crushed an opposite field homerun off of MLB veteran Vic Darensbourg in his only plate appearance late in the 8th inning. The kid (funny I'm calling him that cause he's my age) has a world of potential, and he will only get better as he gets older and he gains more experience down the road. On a sidenote, Eric Duncan had a pinch-hit double off of Chad Durbin in the 5th inning. I haven't given up on him just yet! At the end of the day, the Yankees regulars and Yankees prospects did a fine job. Prospects: Hitting Brett Gardner: 1-3, 2 Ks Eduardo Nunez: 0-2 Marcos Vechionacci: 0-1, BB Jose Tabata: 0-2, 1 K Jesus Montero: 1-1, HR, 1 RBI Austin Jackson: 0-1 Pitching: Chris Britton: 1 IP, 1 R, 0 ER Jonathan Albaladejo: 1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks Ross Ohlendorf: 1 IP, 0 R, 1 Hit Tomorrow, the Yankees will be taking on the Phillies at Legends Field at 1:05 ET. Andy Pettitte will take on Cole Hamels and this game will be on YES.
