The Yankees took shortstop Corban Joseph, the Tennessee high school baseball player of the year, in the 4th round. Joseph put up huge numbers in his senior season, batting .510 with 15 home runs, and he only struck out 5 times in 135 at bats. He has a nice lefty swing with good bat speed, and can hit for both power and average. The fact that he only struck out 5 times thi season indicates that he does not have problems making contact. While he doesn't have great speed, he has a chance of staying at shortstop, but it appears he was drafted mostly for his bat. I haven't heard of Joseph before he was drafted, but he sounds like he has a very promising bat. I like this pick.
