With their sandwich round pick at #44, the Yankees selected lefty Jeremy Bleich, who was limited by injury to 33 innings on the season. The 6'2" 185 pound lefty did very well in those 33 innings, however, posting a 1.09 ERA, with 26 strikeouts, though his 21 walks were concerning. He was Stanford's ace before being sidelined in March with an elbow strain. He also pitched well in the Cape Cod League last summer, which put him on the map as a prospect to follow. Bleich is also repped by Scott Boras, so that makes 2 Boras clients in 2 picks for the Yankees. He supposedly has a high 80's-low 90's fastball with a good curve and changeup, good stuff for a lefty, . It seems like the Bleich pick came somewhat out of nowhere, and he could have been available later, and I would have preferred a higher ceiling with this pick. Nonetheless, repeat after me: In Oppenheimer I trust!
