Scranton shut down by Syracuse, 5-0
  • Dan McCutchen was the starter, and was not at his best.  In 6 1/3 innings, McCutchen gave up 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, with 4 strikeouts.  He has a 5.01 ERA since being promoted to AAA, indicating that he has taken some time to adjust to the new level of competition.
  • Brett Gardner was 0 for 3 with a walk.
  • Alberto Gonzalez, playing 2nd base, had 2 of the Yankees' 3 hits, goign 2 for 3 with a walk to push his average to .247.
  • Jason Lane had the other hit, and was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Trenton was off tonight Tampa loses a heartbreaker to St. Lucie, 4-3 (15 innings)
  • Grant Duff was the starter, and pitched very well.   In 5 innings, Duff Man gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 6.
  • Phil Bartelski pitched 3 innings of 1-run ball, allowing 4 runs and striking out 6 to lower his ERA to 1.33.
  • Jon Hovis, recently back from injury, pitched 2 perfect innings.
  • Wilkins Arias struck out 4 in 2 perfect innings of relief.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 2 for 8.
  • Mitch Hilligoss was 1 for 5 with 2 walks.
  • Seth Cooper was 3 for 6.
  • Jose Gil was 2 for 5 with 2 walks and a steal (his 6th).
  • Kevin Smith was 4 for 7 with 2 doubles.
Charleston falls to Rome, 8-7
  • Jason Stephens got the start, and was mediocre.  In 5 2/3 innings, Stephens gave up 4 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks.  He did strike out 7, however, and has an impressive 2.80 ERA.
  • Wilkins De La Rosa gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief.  He also struck out 3.
  • Abe Amonte was 0 for 5 with 2 strikeouts, to drop his average to .277.
  • Justin Snyder was 0 for 1 with a strikeout before being ejected from the game.
  • Brad Suttle was 2 for 4 with a double.
  • Jesus Montero was 0 for 3 with a walk, and his average is down to .292 after being over .300 for most of the season.
  • Austin Romine was 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Brandon Laird was 2 for 4 with a triple.
  • Carmen Angelini was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Austin Krum was 1 for 3 with a triple, though he also made a costly throwing error in the 9th that allowed Rome to score the winning run.
