Scranton falls to Columbus, 4-2
  • Alan Horne got the start, and seems to still be working out the kinks.  In 6 innings, Horne gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits (2 homers) and 4 walks, while striking out 2. He did have a 10:6 groundout:flyout ratio, which is promising.
  • JB Cox was back from the DL, and picked up where he left off, pitching a perfect inning and striking out 1.  When Latroy Hawkins is inevitably DFA'd, he and Dave Robertson will likely be the frontrunners to fill that spot.
  • Brett Gardner was 1 for 3 with 2 more walks, and also struck out twice.  You'd have to think he is motivated (and maybe a little pissed off) by seeing Justin Christian get promoted ahead of him.

  • Tom Bainridge was 2 for 3 with a double.
  • Chase Weems was 2 for 3.
  • Chris Smith was 0 for 3 with a strikeout.
Justin Christian was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi's and an error in his major league debut tonight, as he started in left field in place of the banged-up Johnny Damon.  He could get another start or two in this Pittsburgh series against Zach Duke and Paul Maholm, two lefties.  I'm glad to see Sanchez back, but he likely has a long road to the majors if he comes back as a starter, and it appears he will wind up in the bullpen this season.  I doubt he sees the Bronx this year though.
