Scranton blanks Columbus, 6-0
  • Kei Igawa got the start, and picked up where Jeff Karstens left off last night.  In 6 2/3 scoreless innings, Igawa gave up 7 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5.
  • Dave Robertson struck out 2 in 1 1/3 1-hit innings of relief.  His ERA is now 1.74.
  • Scott Patterson pitched a perfect 9th.
  • Brett Gardner was 2 for 4 with a walk and his 10th triple of the season.  He also threw out a runner at home, and raised his average on the season to .295.
  • Chris Basak was 1 for .
  • Juan Miranda was 2 for 4 with a double, and his average is up to .319.
  • Eric Duncan was 1 for 4 with a double, and this raised his average to .243.
  • Nick Green was 1 for 4.
  • JD Closser was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk.
Trenton edges out Erie, 4-3
  • Jason Jones had another solid start, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings, with 4 strikeouts.
  • Kevin Whelan blew the save but got the win, giving up a run on a hit and a walk in 1 inning of work.
  • Mark Melancon got the save, pitching 3 innings of 1-hit relief, and striking out 2.  This dropped his ERA on Trenton to 1.57.  He's definitely earned a promotion to Scranton.
  • Austin Jackson was 1 for 4 with his 12th stolen base.
  • Colin Curtis was 1 for 2 with 2 walks.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was also 1 for 4.
  • Jose Tabata was 1 for 3 with a walk to bring his average up to .232.
  • PJ Pilittere and Reegie Corona were both 2 for 4.  Corona also had his 1st home run of the season.
Tampa outraces Daytona, 7-6 (8 innings, game 1 of doubleheader)
  • Ivan Nova continued to frustrate with another mediocre outing, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings of work.
  • Phil Bartelski gave up 1 hit in 1 scoreless inning of relief.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 4.
  • Seth Cooper was 2 for 3.
  • Mitch Hilligoss was 1 for 4.
  • Andres Perez was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Jose Gil was 1 for 4.
  • CJ Henry was 3 for 4, bringing his average up to .286.
  • Luis Nunez and Tim Battle were each 2 for 4.  Battle also doubled.
Tampa shut out by Daytona, 2-0 (7 innings, game 2)
  • Zach McAllister was great once again, but was the hard-luck loser.  In 6 innings, McAllister gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on just 1 hit (a solo homer) and 1 walk, with 3 strikeouts.  He also had a 10:5 groundout:flyout ratio.  This lowered his ERA to 2.79 since being promoted to Tampa.
  • Jon Hovis pitched a scoreless 7th to lower his ERA to 1.76.
  • Seth Cooper and Kevin Smith were both 1 for 3.
  • Mitch Hilligoss was 2 for 3.
Charleston's game against Rome was suspended after 2 innings.  Jesus Montero had doubled and Brandon Laird homered in those 2 innings. Staten Island falls to Aberdeen, 4-1
  • Luke Greinke was the starter, and he gave up an unearned run in 2 innings of 1-run ball, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
  • Brad Rulon was lights-out in relief, striking out 5 in 3 shutout innings and allowing just a walk.
  • Andy Shive gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings of work, and also struck out 3.
  • Drew Shetrone pitched a perfect inning.
  • David Adams was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk to raise his average to .176.
  • Chris Baisley, Daniel Brewer, and Taylor Grote were each 1 for 4.  Grote also made his 2nd fielding error of the season.
  • Mike Lyon was 1 for 4 with a double.
GCL Yanks top Tigers, 3-2 (completion of a suspended game)
  • Dominican righty Frandisco Rondon got the start, pitching 3 innings of 2-hit ball, and allowing an unearned run.
  • Ian Kennedy, rehabbing, pitched 3 strong innings.  He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits, and struck out 7.
  • Chase Wright, also rehabbing, struck out 5 in 3 innings of 1-run ball.
  • Jose Pirela, playing shortstop, was 0 for 3 with a walk.
  • Corban Joseph, playing second base, was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts.  He is still hitless in his minor league career.
  • Zoilo Almonte was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Tim Bainridge was 1 for 3.
  • Jimmy Paredes was 1 for 3.
  • Chase Weems was 0 for 3.
GCL Yanks downed by Tigers, 2-1
  •  Dickson Marquez got the start, and held the Tigers to 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk in 4 1/3 innings.  he also struck out 4
  • Jose Pirela, back at second base, was 0 for 4.
  • Chris Smith, making his minor league debut, was 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts and a stolen base.
  • Zoilo Almonte and Chad Gross were each 1 for 4.  Gross also stole a base.
  • Tim Bainridge was 1 for 3.
  • Francisco Arcia was 0 for 3
