Scranton loses to Toledo, 8-4

• Dan McCutchen got the start and struggled. In 5 innings of work, Dan allowed 6 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits (3 homers) and a walk, striking out 5 in the process. Dan labored in the outing, throwing 102 pitches, 66 of them going for strikes. Not a good performance by any means.
• Brett Gardner was 2 for 4 with a walk.
• Justin Christian was 1 for 4 with a walk and 2 stolen bases.
• Juan Miranda was 5 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.
• Eric Duncan was 3 for 4.

Trenton defeated by Binghamton, 3-1

• Eric Hacker got the start and in 5 innings, allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 7 in the process.
• Eric Wordekemper allowed a hit and a walk but no further in his 2 innings of shutout relief. He also struck out 3.
• Kevin Whelan struck out 2 and walked 1 in his inning of shutout relief.
• Recent polydactylic signee Oneli Perez struck out 1 in his perfect inning of relief.
• Austin Jackson was 2 for 4 with a double.
• Colin Curtis and Ramiro Pena was 0 for 4.
• Edwar Gonzalez was 1 for 4 with a double.
• Jose Tabata was 0 for 3 with a walk.
• Reegie Corona was 1 for 3.
• Cody Ehlers was 0 for 3.

Tampa edges Lakeland, 3-2

• Jason Stephens made his first start at the High A level and wasn't that bad. In 5 innings, Jason allowed 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4 in the process. He also had a 9-2 groundout-flyout ratio.
• Eduardo Nunez was 0 for 4.
• James Cooper was 1 for 4 with a double.
• Mitch Hilligoss was 1 for 4.
• Andres Perez was 0 for 3 with a walk
• Kevin Smith was 1 for 3.
• CJ Henry was 0 for 1 with a walk
• Luis Nunez was 2 for 3 with a RBI.

Charleston loses to Columbus in slugfest, 11-8

• Lance Pendleton allowed 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings of work.
• Craig Heyer allowed 3 hits and struck out 1 in his 3 shutout innings of relief.
• Chace Vacek blew his 2nd save of the season as he allowed 6 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1 in just an inning of work.
• Abe Almonte was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.
• Justin Synder was 1 for 5 with a double.
• Brad Suttle was 2 for 5 with his 4th homerun of the season.
• Jesus Montero, catching, was 1 for 3 with a walk.
• Austin Romine was 1 for 3 with his 1st homerun of the season.
• Brandon Laird was 2 for 4 with his 6th homerun of the season.
• Carmen Angelini and Dave Williams were 0 for 4.

Staten Island loses to Hudson Valley, 3-1 (11 innings)

• David Phelps, the 14th-round pick from this year's draft, was the starter. He was very effective in 4 innings of work, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 4.
• Andrew Shive, this year's 35th round pick, relieved Phelps and allowed a run on 2 hits in 2 innings of work, striking out 1 in the process.
• Josue Selenes struck out both batters he faced.
• Raymond Kruml was 0 for 4 with a walk.
• Jahdiel Santamaria was 2 for 5 with a double.
• Braedyn Pruitt was 0 for 5. No surprise here.
• Taylor Grote was 1 for 5 with a RBI.
• Mitch Abeita was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, but failed to throw out 2 baserunners.
• Addison Maruszak was 1 for 4.
• David Adams, this year's 3rd round pick out of Virginia, was 0 for 5.

Game 1: GCL Yankees defeat GCL Indians, 3-2 (7 innings)

• Dellin Betances kicked off the GCL Yankees season by tossing 2 shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out 3. He must be rehabbing there.
• 17 year old Manuel Banuelos scattered 4 hits in his 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief, striking out 4 in the process. Eric the other day was talking about Manuel making him feel old. Well, I haven't officially graduated from high school and this kid is younger than me!
• Jose Pirela was 2 for4.
• Corban Joseph, this year's 4th round pick, was 0 for 2 with a walk.
• Zolio Almonte was 1 for 3 with a homerun.
• Chad Gross, this year's 28th round pick, was 0 for 3.
• Tommy Baldridge, this year's 33rd round pick out of Coastal Carolina, was 0 for 3.
• Jimmy Paredes was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles.
• Chase Weems was 1 for 1 with a walk.
• Emerson Landoni was 0 for 3.

Game 2: GCL Yankees defeats GCL Indians, 2-1 (7 innings)

• Seventeen year old Arodys Vizcaino, who is also younger than me, allowed a run on 3 hits and a walk, while striking out 3 in his 5 innings of work.
• Ryan Flannery, this year's 47th round pick, allowed a hit but struck out 2 in his 2 innings of relief.
• Jose Pirela, Zolio Almonte, and Tommy Baldridge were 0 for 3.
• Chad Gross was 1 for 2.
• Francisco Arcia was 0 for 1 with a walk.
