Mexican righty Alfredo Aceves, who was recently engaged and has been tearing up the Eastern League, earned a promotion to Scranton with his impressive performance.  In AA so far, he has a 1.80 ERA in 50 innings, with 35 strikeouts against just 6 walks.  He'll look to continue this performance in Scranton, and he could be in line for a spot start if he is pitching well and somebody ahead of him in the pecking order falters.  Thanks to Peter Abraham for the news. In other news, nomaas.org's Lane Meyer reports that 15th-round pick Matt Richardson, a shortstop/pitcher out of Florida, has agreed to sign with the Yankees.  Richardson was considered to be one of the tough signs in the Yankee draft class, but apparently the Yankees have given him enough money to break his commitment to UCF.  Richardson was signed as a pitcher, as the Yankees are apparently intrigued by the 6'2" 180 pounder's arm.  He reportedly hits the low 90's with his fastball, and has good feel for his offspeed pitches.  He is relatively new to pitching and therefore somewhat raw, but is very projectable, and should benefit from some coaching by Nardi Contreras and some of the Yankees' other pitching instructors.  No word yet on the size of the bonus, or if it is overslot (and if so, by how much), but it seems likely that we will be seeing Richardson soon in the GCL.  This is a good start, but hopefully the Yankees can get some more of these signability kids signed.
