7:00: The draft keeps motoring along. The Royals took Tyler Sample, one of the high school pitchers who I posted about recently, and hoped the Yankees would get. Oh well, there are still plenty of high school arms left, and last I checked, they did get Gerrit Cole. Texas Tech outfielder Roger Kieschnick and teammate Zachary Stewart, a closer, were also picked. 7:10: Texas outfielder Kyle Russell went off the board to the Dodgers at 93. He has great power, but has not been able to replicate the 28 homers he put up last season, and his stock has dropped. 7:15: The Cubs grabbed Kent State righty Chris Carpenter at 97, a power arm who was drafted (and not signed) last season by the Yankees as a draft-eligible sophomore. I would have liked to see the Yankees redraft him, but they can't draft everybody. 7:19: The Mets continue to amaze me, as they take Kirk Nieuwenhuis from (get this) Azusa Pacific University with the #100 pick. Also, Miami centerfielder Blake Tekotte, another player that has intrigued me, goes to San Diego at 101. 7:25:  The Yankees pick up UVA 2nd baseman David Adams with the #106 pick.
