- Kei Igawa continued to pitch pretty well, giving up 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 shutout innings, and striking out 3. He lowered his ERA to 3.39 with this outing. If Joba Chamberlain is out for an extended period (please no), Igawa might be pitching for a another shot in the rotation.
- Chris Britton walked one in 2/3 scoreless.
- Mark Melancon was dominant, giving up just an infield hit in 2 shutout innings, getting 3 groundball outs in the 8th and striking out the side in the 9th. Chad Jennings reports that he was hitting 96 with the fastball and showing off his good curveball. With the recent struggles of the Yankee bullpen, it wouldn't surprise me to see Melancon get the call in the next few weeks. They will probably see how he fares pitching 2 games in a row first.
- Brett Gardner was 1 for 3 with a walk and his 37th steal.
- Bernie Castro was 2 for 2 wiht a walk.
- Matt Carson was 1 for 4 with his 7th homer, off Bartolo Colon.
- Juan Miranda was 1 for 3 wtih a double and a walk.
- Cody Ransom was 2 for 2 with his 21st homer, off hotshot prospect Michael Bowden, and also walked twice.
- Steven White took the loss, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and 5 walks in 3 1/3 innings, and striking out 1.
- Reegie Corona was 1 for 4 with a double.
- Kevin Russo, Austin Jackson, and Chris Malec were each 0 for 4. AJax also threw out a runner trying to make it to 3rd base.
- Edwar Gonzalez was 1 for 3 with an outfield assist.
- Francisco Cervelli, making his season debut in AA, was 1 for 2.
- Seth Cooper was 1 for 2 with a walk.
- The good Ivan Nova showed up today, as the 21 year-old righty gave up a run on 5 hits in 6 innings, and struck out 5. He also got 9 groundball outs against 3 flyouts, for a solid 3:1 ratio.
- Michael Dunn struck out 3 in 2 shutout innings of relief.
- Luis and Eduardo Nunez were each 1 for 3 with a walk. Eduardo stole 2 bases and was caught once, and Luis stole a base as well.
- Seth Fortenberry was 2 for 4 with a walk.
- Andres Perez was 2 for 2 with a double and a walk.
- Mitch Hilligoss was 2 for 4 with a double.
- Dellin Betances was great today, giving up a run on 6 and 1 walk in 6 2/3 innings of work, and striking out 7. Dellin has not walked more than 2 batters in a game since July 9th, showing progress with his control.
- Justin Snyder was 2 for 6 to raise his average to .288.
- Brad Suttle was 2 for 5 with a double, and is hitting .290.
- Jesus Montero was 1 for 4 with a walk. He is sitting at .314.
- Austin Romine was 3 for 4 with a stolen base, his 3rd of the season. He raised his average to .283 with this fine game.
- Austin Krum was 1 for 4 with a walk.
- Brandon Laird was 1 for 5 with another home run, his 17th. He has gone yard 4 games in a row, with 5 jacks in his last 4 games. This kid has some serious power, and he's not so old for low-A at 20.
- Carmen Angelini was 2 for 4 with a walk and his 3rd homer of the season, raising his average to .237.
- Abe Almonte was 1 for 3 with a double to move his average to .233.
- Hector Noesi started, and pitched well, giving up 3 hits in 6 shutout innings, and striking out 6.
- Jimmy Paredes had the only Yankee hit, going 1 for 3 with a walk to raise his average to .301 on the season.
- Corban Joseph was 0 for 2 with 2 walks.
- Jose Pirela and Mitch Delaney were 0 for 3 with a walk.
- Wady Rufino and Kyle Higashioka were both 0 for 4.
