Scranton falls to Pawtucket, 5-1
  • Alfredo Aceves started, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits and a walk in 6 innings.  After dominating in Tampa and Trenton, the Mexican Gangster has struggled to the tune of a 5.12 ERA.
  • Chris Britton struck out 2 in a shutout inning.
  • Scott Patterson gave up a run on 2 hits in 1 inning, and struck out 2.
  • Brett Gardner was 3 for 3 with a walk, raising his average to .291.  He also had an outfield assist.
  • Matt Carson, Eric Duncan, and Chris Basak were each 1 for 4.
  • Ben Broussard and Chad Moeller were each 1 for 3.
Trenton beaten by Bowie, 10-2
  • George Kontos, dominant of late, struggled.  In 6 innings, Kontos gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks, and struck out 5.  This raised George's ERA to 3.78 on the season.
  • Anthony Claggett gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
  • Reegie Corona was 2 for 4 with a walk and an error.
  • Francisco Cervelli was 1 for 5, and picked up a golden sombrero with 4 k's.
  • Austin Jackson was 2 for 5 with a double, raising his average to .288.  Yawn..
  • Chris Malec was 2 for 4 with a walk and a double.
  • Seth Cooper was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Tampa tops Sarasota, 7-4
  • Ryan Pope started, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk in 6 innings of work, and striking out 4.  His ERA on the season elevated to 4.00.
  • Luis Nunez was 4 for 4 with a double and a walk, and was also caught stealing.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 2 for 4 with a steal.
  • Seth Fortenberry was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
  • Kyle Anson and Tom Baldridge were each 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Chad Gross was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Tim Battle was 2 for 4 with 2 homers, giving him 11 on the season.  Battle has some exciting tools, but his plate discipline has really held him back throughout his career (108 k's against 15 walks this season).
Charleston defeats Delmarva, 10-3
  • Adam Olbrychowski got the start, and was very strong.  In 6 innings, Adam O gave up 2 runs on 6 hits, and struck out 9.
  • Angel Reyes struck out 2 in a perfect inning of relief.
  • Justin Snyder was 1 for 5 with his 24th error.  He is hitting .286 on the season.
  • Jesus Montero was 1 for 4 with a walk, but that hit was his 14th home run of the season.  An .859 OPS is not too shabby for an 18 year-old catcher.
  • Brad Suttle was 2 for 3 with 2 walks, raising his average to .275.
  • Austin Romine was 4 for 5, bringing his average to .284.
  • Brandon Laird was 2 for 5 to raise his average to .260.
  • Carmen Angelini was 1 for 3 with a walk and his 4th home run of the season.  He also made his 36th error.
  • Abe Almonte was 2 for 4, bringing his average to .242.
Staten Island stops State College, 13-10
  • Nick Montgomery struggled, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits in 2 1/3 innings.
  • Pat Venditte got the save, striking out 1 in a perfect 9th.
  • Raymond Kruml was 4 for 5 with a double, a triple, and a walk.  He also made a fielding error, and raised his average to .294.
  • David Adams was 2 for 6 with his 4th homer.
  • Brian Baisley was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, raising his average to .348.
  • Addison Maruszak was 1 for 5 with a double.
  • Daniel Brewer was 3 for 5 with a double.
  • Mike Lyon was 1 for 3 with 2 wlaks.
  • Mitch Abeita was 1 for 5.
  • Taylor Grote was 2 for 5.
GCL Yanks beat Blue Jays, 8-7 (7 innings, game 1)
  • Mikey O'Brien started, and was hurt by his defense.  In 3 1/3 innings, O'Brien gave up 5 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks.
  • Jimmy Paredes was 1 for 2 with a walk and a double.
  • Corban Joseph was 0 for 4.
  • Neall French and Chase Weems were each 1 for 3.  Weems doubled.
  • Alvaro Ramirez was 2 for 3 with a home run.
GCL Yanks fall to Jays, 5-4 (game 2, 7 innings)
  • Matt Richardson started, giving up 3 runs on 2 hits (both home runs) and a walk in 3 innings, and striking out 6.
  • Corban Joseph was 1 for 3 to bring his average to .294.
  • Kyle Higashioka was 2 for 4, raising his average to .364.
  • Jimmy Paredes was 1 for 4.
  • Zoilo Almonte was 1 for 3.
  • Roy Gomez was 2 for 3 with a double.
  • Alvaro Ramirez was 1 for 2.
