This is definitely a worst-case scenario. Posada, whom we thought was healed, is now headed to the disabled list. Unfortunately, Chad Moeller was just put on waivers, so he could be some time away. Who knows how long Posada will be out. The names that Chad Jennings throws around are Chris Stewart and Jason Brown. Both are extremely sub-par options. I'd like to add P.J. Pilittere and Kyle Anson to the list. However, none of these are long term solutions, nor is Francisco Cervelli once he gets healthy. Seriously, Jesus Montero *might* be the best win-now offensive player at the position in the organization. This is the kind of situation where in the old'en days Joe Girardi or John Flaherty would put on the catching gear for a few days. If Posada is going to be out of commission for any extended period of time, then the Yankees absolutely have to consider Damien Miller, Mike Piazza, Gerald Laird, or some other option. Cervelli isn't ready to be a full time back up, and none of these options, including Moeller, are going to hit much better than .200/.250/.300.
