Scranton blanked by Bailey and Louisville, 1-0
  • Kei Igawa followed up his 6 perfect innings last time around with another solid performance. In 4 innings of work, Igawa allowed 6 hits and a walk for 1 run, while striking out 7.
  • Chris Britton and Jon Albaladejo each gave up a hit in 2 scoreless relief innings, with Albaladejo striking out 2.
  • Edwar Ramirez did his thang, striking out 2 in a perfect 9th.
  • Justin Christian, Greg Porter and Jason Lane were each 1 for 4.
  • Juan Miranda was 0 for 2 with 2 walks.
  • Alberto Gonzalez and Bernie Castro were each 1 for 2.
Trenton tops Altoona, 5-2
  • Chase Wright got the start and was solid, giving up a run on 3 hits and a walk in 5 innings of work, with 4 strikeouts.
  • Steven Jackson was dominant out of the bullpen, striking out 7 in 3 innings of perfect relief. He could be a nice bullpen sleeper if he keeps this up.
  • Ramiro Pena was 2 for 5 with a double.
  • Austin Jackson was 2 for 5 with a steal, bringing his average up to .190.
  • Jose Tabata was 2 for 4 with a walk and his 3rd steal of the season, also raising his average to .190 on the season.
  • Colin Curtis was 1 for 5.
  • Marcos Vechionacci and Reegie Corona were each 1 for 4 with a double.
Tampa outlasts Dunedin, 1-0 (10 innings)
  • Eric Hacker one-upped Kei Igawa's last outing by pitching 7 perfect innings, striking out 6 in the process.
  • Sean Henn, rehabbing, struck out 2 in 2 innings of scoreless relief.
  • Jon Hovis pitched a perfect 10th for the win, striking out 1.
  • Chris Kunda, starting for the injured Damon Sublett, was 2 for 5 with a double.
  • Mitch Hilligoss was 1 for 4 with a walk.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was 2 for 5.
  • Seth Fortenberry and Kyle Anson were each 1 for 3 with a walk.
Charleston serves Savannah, 7-3
  • Dellin Betances got the start, and was both dominant and wild. In 5 1/3 innings, the tall youngster gave up 2 hits and 6 walks, while striking out 8. It is great to see Betances dominate the competition with the strikeouts, but the walks must go down if he is going to come close to fulfilling his potential.
  • Jonathan Ortiz struck out 2 in a perfect 9th.
  • Abe Almonte was 2 for 5, but his baserunning woes continue as he was caught stealing and picked off. I've heard many raves about Abe's speed, but it is clear that he has not developed basestealing instincts yet.
  • Justin Snyder and Brad Suttle were each 3 for 5, and both are hitting over .400 on the season (Suttle's at .500, and Snyder .421).
  • Jesus Montero, catching and batting cleanup, was 2 for 5 with a monstrous 2-run homer. He also struck out once, and threw out 1 of 2 attempted basestealers (to be fair to Montero, the runner who was safe stole 3rd, indicating that it might have been stolen off the pitcher, Betances).
  • Wady Rufino was 2 for 5.
  • Brandon Laird was 2 for 5.
  • Carmen Angelini was 1 for 2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.
  • Dave Williams was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.
That's all for tonight.  All in all, a pretty weak offensive showing, with the exception of Charleston's loaded lineup.
