Scranton falls to Rochester, 7-4
  • Steven White was the starter, and was so-so, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings. This raised his ERA to 4.15 on the season.
  • Sean Henn struck out 2 in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and also gave up an unearned run.
  • Chris Britton took the loss, and was roughed up for 3 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk in 1 2/3 innings.
  • Brett Gardner was 1 for 4 with a walk, a strikeout, and a stolen base (his 4th), and was also caught stealing. He is now hitting .345 on the season an slugging .583, though his 12:5 strikeout to walk ratio is a bit of a concern.
  • Juan Miranda was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Cody Ransom was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Eric Duncan was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Trenton defeated by New Britain, 5-4 (12 innings)
  • Daniel McCutchen had another strong start, giving up 2 earned runs in 7 innings, on 6 hits and no walks. He also struck out 4, and has an ERA of 1.46 on the season. He should be in Scranton.
  • Dave Robertson gave up a rare run in 2 innings of relief, but also struck out 3.
  • Jose Tabata and Austin Jackson were each 1 for 6. Tabata is now hitting .225 on the season, and Jackson is at .290.
  • Colin Curtis was 1 for 4 with 2 walks.
  • Matt Carson was 2 for 6.
  • PJ Pilittere was 4 for 6, bringing his average up to .311.
  • Marcos Vechionacci was 1 for 2 before Cody Ehlers pinch-ran for him in the 4th inning. It seems like he might have been injured, I will update when I find out.
Tampa defeats Clearwater, 3-0
  • Michael Dunn had another strong outing, striking out 5 in 4 shutout innings, while walking 3 and allowing 2 hits. It is unclear why he was limited to 4 innings.
  • Grant Duff struck out 3 in 3 innings of shutout relief, allowing a hit and a walk in the process.
  • Jon Hovis struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th to earn the save.
  • Damon Sublett was 1 for 4 with a walk, and is now hitting .314 on the season.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 5.
  • Seth Fortenberry was 1 for 3 with 2 walks and a steal.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was 2 for 5 with a double.
  • Kyle Anson was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, and is now hitting .357.
Charleston outslugs Columbus, 11-7
  • Jairo Heredia got the start and did not have his best outing, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) in 5 2/3 innings. He surrendered 7 hits, 2 of which were homers, and 2 walks, while striking out 6. The 18 year-old phenom's ERA is now 3.92, and he is averaging over a strikeout/inning, with a k:bb ratio greater than 3.
  • After homering and driving in 4 runs yesterday, Abe Almonte had another monster game. He went 4 for 5 with 2 more bombs. The 18 year-old centerfielder is now hitting .311 on the season with and .841 OPS, and looks like he will shoot up prospect lists if he keeps this up.
  • Justin Snyder, playing 3rd base today, was 2 for 5, raising his average to .391 with an OPS of 1.038. It seems that Snyder's bat is ready for Tampa, though his defense has been shaky.
  • Jesus Montero, DH'ing, was 3 for 5, raising his average to .356 on the season.
  • Dave Williams was 2 for 5.
  • Austin Romine continued his hot hitting by going 3 for 4 with a double, and he has had multiple hits in 8 of his last 9 games.
  • Wady Rufino was 2 for 5 with a homer.
  • Carmen Angelini had a rough day, going 0 for 4 with a walk, and making 2 errors in the field. This dropped his average to a measly .180.
