Ian Kennedy was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year after going an impressive 12-3 with a 1.91 ERA across 3 levels of the minors, and making a smooth transition to the Major Leagues. The 22 year-old righty from USC also struck out 163 batters in 146 1/3 innings, while walking only 50, and minor league hitters batted only .182 against him. This was a great achievement by Ian, and hopefully we will be seeing him in the Yankee rotation next season. Edwar Ramirez was also honored, earning the Relief Pitcher of the Year award. You've heard about his plus-plus changeup and ridiculous numbers already, but I'll remind you of them anyway. In the minors this season, Edwar put up an 0.79 ERA, striking out 102 batters in 56 2/3 innings, and walking 22. Opposing hitters managed just a .135 batting average against Ramirez, despite his average fastball.
