Charleston starter Tim Norton and Tampa hurler George Kontos have been out with injuries, and seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. I have finally found some news on them (courtesy of Mike A. and River Ave. Blues). Kontos had a minor shoulder injury, but will be back in the Tampa rotation sometime this week. Norton on the other hand, has fallen victim to the Yankee injury bug. Tim will be having major shoulder surgery, which will keep him out for the rest of the season, and possibly some of 2008 as well. Kontos was pitching well for Tampa before getting arrested and injured, to the tune of a 3.12 ERA, a groundball/flyball ratio of 2.2, a strikeout rate of 11.4/9 innings, and a walk rate of 2.60. Following the promotions of Kennedy and Chamberlain, Kontos will probably be the ace of the Tampa staff, and I expect him to continue pitching well there. It is unlikely he will get promoted to Trenton this season, given the crowded rotation there, but he will likely be there next year if he continues to pitch effectively.
