Scranton shuts out Syracuse, 8-0
  • Chase Wright started, and after struggling in his past few outings, was great.  In 7 shutout innings, Chase only allowed 3 hits while walking 4 (not good) and striking out 1 (also not so great).
  • Edwar Ramirez pitched 2 innings while allowing (you guessed it) no runs, 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 5.  His ERA is down to 0.76, and he keeps making us wonder what more he has to do to earn a call-up.  He's continued to dominate AAA, while the Yankee bullpen has struggled to protect leads and keep games close.
  • Justin Christian was 1 for 4.
  • Shelley Duncan was 2 for 3 with  a double, and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance to DH in the majors (and maybe play some first) while Damon is banged up.
  • Eric Duncan was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
Trenton falls to Erie, 5-3
  • Jeff Marquez got roughed up in 4 2/3 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 walks which led to 5 runs.  Jeff also struck out 3, and his ERA is still an impressive 3.07 after this terrible outing.
  • Scott Patterson allowed 1 hit in 2 scoreless innings, also striking out 1 in the process.
  • Brett Gardner was 0 for 3.
  • Cody Ehlers was 2 for 4.
  • Juan Miranda, in the cleanup spot, was 0 for 2 with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
  • Colin Curtis was 0 for 4.
Tampa defeats Daytona, 7-6, in 11 innings
  • George Kontos started, and didn't have his best outing, as he only lasted 4 1/3 innings.  However, Kontos only gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, and he struck out 5.  His ERA is 2.35 on the season, so he does not appear to be having much trouble with FSL hitters.
  • Josh Schmidt pitched 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief to earn the win, only allowing 1 hit and no walks while striking out 4.
  • Reegie Corona was 3 for 6, although he also struck out thrice.
  • Austin Jackson continued to hit since his promotion, going 3 for 5 with a walk.
  • José Tabata was also 3 for 5 with a walk, and he also stole his 11th base of the season.  Tabata's average is now up to .304.
  • Chris Malec was 2 for 4.
  • Tim Battle was 1 for 5 with a 2-run homer.
Charleston blanks Rome, 4-0
  • Michael Dunn had a dominant outing, allowing 1 hit and 2 walks in 7 scoreless innings, and striking out 8.  It is good to see the converted outfielder pitching well after getting shelled 2 starts ago.
  • Ferdin Tejeda pitched a shutout inning in relief, allowing 1 hit.
  • Mitch Hilligoss was 0 for 5.
  • Seth Fortenberry was 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.
  • Kevin Smith and Josue Calzadod were each 2 for 4 with a double.
Staten Island stifles Aberdeen, 9-1
  • Dellin Betances bounced back from a rough season debut, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.  Betances, who was hurt by his defense in the inning he allowed the run, also struck out 2.
  • Craig Heyer pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out 2 while allowing 3 hits and 1 walk.
  • Damon Sublett was 2 for 4 with a triple and a throwing error, his 4th of the season.
  • Dave Williams continued to hit, going 2 for 3 with 2 walks.
  • Justin Snyder, playing 3rd base today, went 2 for 4 with a walk.
  • Frank Lonigro was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
GCL Yanks were off today.
