It has become a matter of time before Kei Igawa returns to the Yankees to take on the role as the 5th starter. Now, I'm sure a lot of people aren't very happy with this news, which can be understood. However, don't forget that Kei Igawa was considered a big gamer in Japan, and certainly has the talent to be one in the US too.
Kei Igawa is a baseball player who lives as a gamer. He preordered the Play Station 2 and got it on the day it was released, and same for the Play Station 3. He plays online games even as a pro. On the day Final Fantasy XI was released, he pitched a complete game shutout. He is a diligent man who would line up outside a store at 7 am to purchase "Dragon Quest VIII" (also known as "Dragon Warrior" in US), and raised his character's level to 99, a feat not many will have the patience to do. Just to note, while he was lined up for the game, his agent was busy discussing his contract.
The owners have recognized Igawa as a big gamer too. To the news that Igawa had raised his level to 99, Square-Enix released an official statement: "it would take well over 100 hours to accomplish such feat. It requires tremendous grit and battling as a player." Igawa doesn't forget to be a gamer even after he won the Nippon Series (equivalent of the WS in Japan), as he was spotted at a used game store in Nihonbashi just days after becoming champs.
Igawa is also a firm believer. He put his defective PS game disc in the freezer, listening to an advice from a friend that by cooling the discs, they are repaired. However, it should also be noted that the discs were not fixed even after being in the freezer.
And lastly, for those of you who read the whole article and felt tricked, please understand that decieving you wasn't my intention. After all, I have not lied anywhere. Kei Igawa is a big (video) gamer, and that is a well known trait in Japan.
