Yankee draftee Chris Carpenter made his second appearence of the season for the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod League.  While Carpenter only threw 3 innings, he was overpowering, striking out 7 and allowing only 2 hits.  However, he did walk 2 and hit a batter, which shows that his control is still giving him problems occasionally. In 9 innings this season, Chris has allowed 7 hits and 2 earned runs, with 13 strikeouts against 4 walks.  If Carpenter continues to pitch this well, it will increase the chances that the Yankees will pay this power arm the sandwich-round money that he wants.  I hope the Yankees are willing to shell out for him, because his power arsenal, combined with some help from Nardi Contreras, could make him a tough Major League pitcher or a dominant bullpen arm in the future.
