Yankee Minors Recap: 7/27

Scranton vs Louisville, Yankees defeated 1-6 in 11 innings.

Brett Gardner and Eric Duncan both went went 1-5 with a strikeout.
Jeff Karstens pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out four.
Edwar Ramirez pitched one scoreless inning in which he gave up one hit while striking out two.

Trenton at Reading, Thunders crushed 5-13.

Alberto Gonzalez went 1-5 with a double and a run scored.
Juan Miranda went 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
Chase Wright had an awful outing, giving up 10 runs in 4.1 IP. He gave up 11 hits (including two HRs) and four walks while striking out one.
Steven Jackson pitched three innings, giving up four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out two.

Tampa at Fort Myers, Yankees defeated 2-4 (7 innings).

Reegie Corona went 1-2 with a double, a run scored, and a walk.
Austin Jackson went 1-3.
Jose Tabata went 1-3 with a RBI.
Marcos Vechionacci went 1-3 with a double, a run scored, and a strikeout.
Tim Battle went 1-3 with two strikeouts.
Francisco Cervelli went 1-3 with a RBI.
Brett Smith earned the loss, giving up three runs (two earned) in 1.2 IP. He gave up two hits (including a HR) and walked three.

Charleston at Greenville, Riverdogs won 5-1.

Mitch Hilligoss went 3-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Eduardo Nunez went 1-4 with a RBI.
Seth Fortenberry went 1-4 with a 2-run HR. He also struck out three times.
Jesse Hoover recieved a win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings in which he gave up two hits and one walk while striking out two.

Random trivia, the final pitcher for Greenville was Josh Papelbon, none other than the brother of Jon Papelbon of Boston. He gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning. Staten Island at Tri-City, Yankees won 2-0 in a rain shortened 6 inning game.

Justin Snyder went 2-3 with a double and a run scored.
Taylor Holiday went 2-2 with a run scored.
Dave Williams went 1-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
Braedyn Pruitt went 0-1 with a RBI.
Zach McAllister had another strong outing, pitching five scoreless innings giving up five hits and two walks while striking out six.

GCL Yankees at GCL Tigers, Yankees won 7-3.

Abraham Almonte went 1-5 with a triple, two runs scored, a RBI, and a strikeout.
Prilys Cuello went 2-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Ryan Wehrle went 2-5 with a strikeout.
Jesus Montero went 1-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Gerardo Rodriguez, playing 1B, went 1-1 with a solo-HR.
Noel Castillo pitched five innings, giving up 6 hits and one run. He walked one and struck out four.
Wilkins De La Rosa pitched two scoreless innings, giving up one walk and striking out four.

The second game for Tampa was postponed.
