Alberto Gonzalez has been promoted back to AAA Scranton, after hitting .330 with a .826 OPS since his demotion to Trenton. Taking the Attorney General's place will be Reegie Corona, who has hit .271 with a .708 OPS in the FSL. Eduardo Nunez has been promoted to Tampa, despite struggling with the bat, hitting .237 with a puny .581 OPS. Luis Nunez, formerly a shortstop for Staten Island, takes Eduardo's place, and he has his .236 in 34 games. Ryan Wehrle, a 2007 draftee from Nebraska, will be moved up from the GCL to play short for the Staten Island Yanks. Wehrle has hit .280 with a .791 OPS, and this will give us a chance to see if the talented but troubled youngster is a prospect. In other news, Joba is consistently hitting 99 at least 5 times and 100 at least once on the Scranton gun in relief, and he also threw a 90 MPH slider to record a strikeout. I feel bad for the Rochester hitters, all 3 of whom struck out in his 1st inning as a reliever. I look forward to seeing Joba in the majors soon, hopefully instead of Kyle Farnsworth.
