  • Ian Kennedy had a dominant outing in his first AAA start.  In 6 shutout innings, the USC product gave up 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 6.
  • Scott Williamson gave up a run on 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 2.
  • TJ Beam gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 1 inning.
  • Kevin Thompson was 1 for 4.
  • Kevin Reese and  Erubiel Durazo were each 1 for 3 with a walk.
Trenton tops Reading, 9-3
  • Jeff Marquez started, allowing 3 runs in 7 innings to earn his 11th win.  Marquez, who also gave up 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2, seems to have had his sinker working tonight, as he had 15 groundouts against only 4 flyouts.
  • Kevin Whelan, back in the bullpen, struck out 4 in 2 perfect relief innings.
  • Bronson Sardinha and Juan Miranda were each 2 for 5 with a walk.
  • Cody Ehlers was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk.
  • PJ Pilittere and Gabriel Lopez were each 3 for 5.
  • Carlos Mendoza was 2 for 4 with a walk.
Tampa defeats Fort Myers, 4-1 (game 1, 7 innings)
  • Anthony Claggett started, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 2 in 5 shutout innings.
  • Dave Robertson gave up a rare run on a hit and a walk in 1 inning of relief.  This raised his FSL ERA to 1.42.
  • Eric Wordekemper gave up 2 hits in a scoreless inning of relief to lower his ERA to 0.74.
  • Austin Jackson was 2 for 4.

  • The rehabbing Jason Giambi was 0 for 2 with 2 walks.

GCL Yankees beaten by Braves, 6-2
  • Dickson Maruqez did not pitch up to his usual standards, giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
  • Prilys Cuello was 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Abe Almonte was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Jesus Montero, DHing, was 2 for 4 with his 2nd home run and a double.  The home run was to centerfield like his first one was, so Jesus is showing some impressive power.

  • Ben Blumenthal was 1 for 3 with a strikeout.
