- Phil Hughes made his first AAA rehab start, and was great. In 6 innings, Phil gave up just 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 7. Phil the Great will likely have one more rehab appearence in Scranton, to get his pitch count up around 90-100 (he threw 73 tonight, 54 strikes).
- Steven White pitched 3 innings of perfect relief, striking out 1 in the process.
- Kevin Thompson was 1 for 3.
- Justin Christian was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
- Erubiel Durazo was 2 for 3 with a double.
- Eric Duncan was 1 for 4 with a strikeout.
- Kevin Whelan had a rough return to AA, giving up 5 runs on 3 hits and 6 walks in only 2 1/3 innings. I'm not sure when they plan to return Whelan to the bullpen, but I think it's time to end this experiment and get Kevin back where he belongs.
- Recently-demoted Steven Jackson gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in 2 innings of relief.
- Alberto Gonzalez was 1 for 4.
- Juan Miranda was 1 for 3 with a double and a strikeout.
- JT LaFountain was 1 for 3 with a double and a strikeout as well.
- Gabriel Lopez was 1 for 3.
- Phil Coke had a rough outing, giving up 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings.
- Reegie Corona was 1 for 5 with a double.
- Austin Jackson was 0 for 5 with a strikeout.
- José Tabata was 1 for 3 with a walk.
- Tim Battle was also 1 for 3 with a walk.
- Ivan Nova had his best outing in a while, allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk in 5 shutout innings, while striking out 5.
- Jesse Hoover got the loss, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 1 2/3 innings, while also striking out 2.
- Mitch Hilligoss was 1 for 3 with a double.
- Kevin Smith was 1 for 3 with a double.
- Kyle Anson was 3 for 4.
- Adam Olbrychowski started, and pitched well despite being a little wild. In 4 innings, Adam gave up 2 hits and walked 4, while giving up 3 unearned runs and striking out 6.
- Justin Snyder, playing short, was 0 for 2 with 2 walks and a strikeout.
- Damon Sublett and Braedyn Pruitt were each 1 for 4.
- Dave Williams was 1 for 3.
- DJ Hollingsworth was 2 for 3.
- Jairo Heredia had another dominant outing, surrendering only 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 run in 5 innings. Heredia, who also struck out 6, now has a 1.82 ERA on the season, with a k:bb ratio of over 5:1, and a WHIP of 0.87. He has been a revelation so far this season, and could be the Yankees' next stud pitching prospect.
- Abe Almonte had the best game of his young career, going 4 for 5 with a home run and his 4th stolen base. Almonte, who is hitting .386 in July, has his average up to .279.
- Zoilo Almonte was 2 for 4 with a triple.
- Jesus Montero was 1 for 4 with a walk and a strikeout.
- Kelvin Perez was 2 for 4.
- Wady Rufino was 1 for 4 with a home run.
- Ben Blumenthal was 1 for 4
