Scranton slams Ottawa, 11-5
  • Matt DeSalvo had a mediocre outing after dominating in his last start.  In 6 innings, DeSalvo allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk (great for him), while striking out 3.  Matt's AAA ERA is up to 2.33, which shows how well he has pitched there.
  • Sean Henn pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief, allowing 2 hits and striking out 1.
  • Justin Christian was 2 for 6.
  • Kevin Reese was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk.
  • Shelley Duncan was 1 for 4 with homer #21, and a walk.
  • Angel Chavez was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles.
  • Eric Duncan returned to the lineup and got in on the hitting fun, going 2 for 5 with a double and a strikeout.
  • Andy Cannizaro was3 for 5 with 2 doubles.
Trenton takes down Harrisburg, 9-1
  • Jason Jones got the start, his first since June 15.  In 5 innings, Jones allowed 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 3.
  • Brett Gardner was 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk.
  • Alberto Gonzalez was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Juan Miranda wa 1 for 5 with a triple and a strikeout.

  • Kevin Whelan started, and had another effective outing.  In 5 innings, Whelan allowed no runs on 1 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 3.  He is doing well as a starter in high-A, but he will probably go back to the bullpen once he gets his control to where it should be.
  • Reegie Corona was 0 for 2 with a walk.
  • Austin Jackson was 1 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • José Tabata was 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Marcos Vechionacci was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk, and a strikeout.  He has hit in his last 5 games to raise his average to .257.
  • Chris Malec was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  •  Walter Ibarra was 1 for 3.
Charleston conquered by Rome, 5-2
  • Bryan Villalona, demoted from Tampa to make room for Dave Robertson, had a rough outing.  In 4 2/3 innings, Villalona gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks without striking out a batter.
  • Jesse Hoover allowed 2 hits in 2 scoreless innings of relief, but struck out 5.
  • Jon Hovis pitched a perfect 9th, lowering his ERA to 1.78.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 5.
  • James Cooper was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Seth Fortenberry was 1 for 4.
  • Kyle Anson was 1 for 3 with a double, a strikeout, and a walk.
  • Chris Kunda was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 strikeouts.

  • Nick Chigges started, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks in 3 scoreless innings, while striking out 4.
  • Taylor Holiday was 0 for 3 with a walk.

  • Isiah Howes was 1 for 4 with a double and a strikeout.

GCL Yanks defeat Blue Jays, 9-5
  • The rehabbing TJ Beam got the start, pitching 2 perfect innings and striking out 3.
  • Jairo Heredia made a strong relief appearence, allowing an unearned run on 2 hits and 3 walks in 2 1/3 innings, while striking out 2.
  • Prilys Cuello was 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Abe Almonte took over for Cuello, and was 1 for 1.
  • Ryan Wehrle was 4 for 5, and he should really be in Staten Island (probably will be if Angelini signs and goes to the GCL).
  • Brandon Laird was 1 for 4.
  • Zoilo Almonte was 1 for 5 with a triple.
  • Andres Perez was 1 for 3.
  • Kelvin Castro was 2 for 4.
  • Melky Mesa was 1 for 4 with 2 more strikeouts.
