  • Steven White had another solid outing, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings. White, who also struck out 3, has his AAA ERA down to 3.74.
  • Sean Henn gave up a hit in 2 scoreless relief innings to earn the win.
  • Brett Gardner was 0 for 4 with a walk.
  • Justin Christian was 2 for 4 with a double and a stolen base.
  • Angel Chavez was 2 for 4.
  • Andy Cannizaro was 3 for 4.
  • Eric Duncan drove in the game-winning run on a pinch-hit double.
Trenton beats Binghamton, 5-1 (8 innings)
  • Phil Hughes made his 2nd rehab start in Trenton, throwing 58 pitches in 4 innings of 1-run ball. Hughes, who allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 5, also threw about 15 more pitches in the bullpen after the start. He will likely make 2 more rehab starts in Scranton, going up to about 80 and 100 pitches respectively, before being ready to return to the bigs in early August.
  • Jason Jones continued to pitch well in relief, pitching 4 innings of 1-hit ball while striking out 1 and walking none.
  • Colin Curtis was 1 for 3.
  • Alberto Gonzalez was 3 for 4, and is hitting .328 since his demotion.
  • Juan Miranda was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Matt Carson, Carlos Mendoza and Gabriel Lopez were each 2 for 3.
Tampa no-hits Jupiter, 3-0
  • Kevin Whelan and 2 relievers combined for a no-hitter.
  • Whelan pitched 5 innings, striking out 4 and only walking 1. His Tampa ERA is 1.73, and he appears to have recovered his control somewhat, with only 7 walks in his last 24 innings.
  • Dave Robertson did what he usually does, striking out 3 in 2 relief innings, although he also walked 2.
  • Josh Schmidt got the save by walking 1 and striking out 3 in 2 innings.
  • Reegie Corona was 1 for 3 with a walk and his 21st steal.
  • Austin Jackson was 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts, dropping his average to .376.
  • Jose Tabata was 2 for 4.
  • Marcos Vechionacci was 2 for 4 with a double.

  • Grant Duff had a wild outing, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 7 walks in 4 2/3 innings.
  • Jesse Hoover allowed a run in 1 inning of relief, striking out 1 and allowing a hit and a walk.
  • Jon Hovis pitched a scoreless 9th, allowing 1 hit and lowering his ERA to 1.43.
  • Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Josue Calzado was 2 for 4, and he is hitting .339 in July.
  • Kyle Anson was 1 for 4.
SI Yanks fall to Mahoning Valley, 8-5
  • Adam Olbrychowski started, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 5 1/3 innings, while also striking out 3.
  • Justin Snyder was 3 for 5 with a leadoff home run, raising his average to .391. However, Snyder had a rough day on the bases, getting picked off once and was also caught stealing.
  • Braedyn Pruitt was 1 for 1 with 2 walks, and he is hitting .579 on the season (albeit, in only 7 games).
  • Luis Nunez was 1 for 3 with a walk.
GCL Yanks bash Braves, 7-4 (game 1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)
  • Daniel Gil had a rough outing, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.
  • Prilys Cuello was 2 for 4 with his 4th home run and a strikeout.
  • Kory Castro was 2 for 4.
  • Jesus Montero, catching and batting cleanup, was 0 for 2 with a walk.
  • Zoilo Almonte was 1 for 3 with a homer.
  • Brandon Laird was 2 for 3 with a home run.
  • Andres Perez was 3 for 4.
  • Melky Mesa was 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.
GCL Yanks over Braves, 2-1 (game 2, 7 innings)
  • Jairo Heredia had another strong start, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings, while striking out 8.  On the season, the 17 year-old has a strikeout/walk ratio of 31:6, and an ERA of 1.82.
  •  Gerson Maranzillo was 1 for 3 with a double.
  • Abe Almonte, playing centerfield, was 2 for 3. It'll be interesting to see if they keep Abe in center permanently, or if they will continue to alternate him and Cuello at 2nd.
  • Brandon Laird was 1 for 3 with 2 strikeouts.
  • Ben Blumenthal was 1 for 2 with a strikeout.
