Scranton slugs Louisville, 7-3
  • Ross Ohlendorf made his return to Scranton, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.  Ross also struck out 3 and had a 5:6 GO/FO ratio, which is not what you want to see from him.
  • Ben Kozlowski pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
  • Brett Gardner was 2 for 4 with 2 walks and a steal.  Brett is hitting .333 since his promotion to AAA, but more importantly, he has a .500 OBP, which allows him to be a catalyst at the top of the lineup with his speed.
  • Justin Christian was 1 for 5 with a walk and his 10th AAA steal.
  • Kevin Reese was 3 for 4.
  • Shelley Duncan was 0 for 1 with 4 walks and a stolen base.  This makes me wish the Yanks would respect him as much as the Louisville pitchers clearly did.
  • Angel Chavez was 3 for 5.
  • Andy Cannizaro was 2 for 5 with a strikeout.
Trenton tags New Hampshire, 6-2
  • You guys all heard what Joba Chamberlain did tonight.  7 shutout innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts; just plain nastiness.
  • Scott Patterson was just as dominant in relief, striking out all 4 batters he faced in a perfect 1 2/3 inning relief stint.  His ERA is down to 1.12.
  • Colin Curtis and Alberto Gonzalez were each 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Cody Ehlers was 1 for 4 with a 3-run homer.
  • Bronson Sardinha was 2 for 4 with another 3-run jack, and he has mashed since his demotion.
Tampa shuts out St. Lucie, 8-0
  • Phil Coke pitched a complete game shutout, allowing 8 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5.  This outing lowered Coke's ERA to 2.55.
  • Austin Jackson was 1 for 4, lowering his FSL average to .412.
  • José Tabata was 2 for 4 with his 14th steal, and his average is up to .315.
  • Edwar Gonzalez was 3 for 3 with a triple and a walk.
  • Chris Malec was 3 for 4.
  • Kevin Russo was 2 for 3 with a solo home run and a walk.

  • 2007 draftee (3rd round) Ryan Pope made his Yankee debut, pitching 3 scoreless innings while allowing 3 hits and 2 walks.

  • Luis Nunez was 1 for 4 with a double.

GCL Yanks blanked Tigers, 5-0
  • Tim Dennehy started, allowing 2 hits and 1 walk in 5 scoreless innings.
  • Manuel Barreda pitched in relief, and had the best outing of his young career, striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 hit in 4 scoreless innings.
  • Gerson Maranzillo was 1 for 4.
  • Abe Almonte was 1 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Zoilo Almonte was 1 for 4.
  • Kory Castro was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles.
  • Gerardo Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
  • Ben Blumenthal was 2 for 4 with a double and a strikeout, and he also threw out 2 attempted basestealers.
That's all for tonight.  Bask in the beauty of Joba's outing, and we'll see tomorrow if Horne and Betances can keep pace.  I'll be at the SI game, so hopefully I'll have some info to report.
