Tyler Kepner of the New York Times reports that the MRI on Dellin Betances' elbow did not find any structural damage. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/18/sports/baseball/18pins.html
"The Yankees were relieved to learn yesterday that Dellin Betances, one of their top pitching prospects, has only inflammation in his right elbow. Betances, 19, left his start on Sunday for Class A Staten Island after three innings because of elbow stiffness, and his velocity dropped from 94 or 95 miles an hour to 90 or 91."
This is a good sign, but it does not necessarily mean that Betances' problems are over.  Regardless, it gives a good explanation for his lower velocity in his recent starts, and possibly his control problems as well.  I'm sure the Yanks will be very careful with Dellin and let him rest his elbow, and hopefully when he returns he can get back to the form that allowed him to dominate the GCL.
