I've been wanting to put together something like this for a while now, so of course when I get around to it, the "embed" thingee ain't working. Sorry.

Couple things I noticed about Phil:

1. Man does that kid work fast. Always a plus. 2. Maybe it was just how he was throwing that day, but he's got some wicked run on his fastball. 3. 12-to-6? Nope, that's a good ol' 1-to-7 yakker. Nice. 4. Any guy who wears high socks is cool with me.

Onto the next guy. Now I'm no scout, but I think it's safe to say you'll be seeing "gets good extension on his pitches" in his scouting reports for the foreseeable future. I guess being 6'-9" will do that to ya.

If I hadn't known this was Jose Tabata batting beforehand, I woulda sworn it was Manny. Just look how he sets his hands in his stance.

Looks like everybody's favorite scrawny RHP falls off towards first quite a bit. Good thing he doesn't weight, you know, 185 pounds.

How very ESPN-ish of them to cut away just as JB Cox closes out Texas' 2005 CWS Title. Gotta love those goofy small-billed hats.

Not to be one-upped, Mark Melancon did the same for the SI Yanks a year-and-a-half later. That is some filthy, filthy stuff he's throwin'.

I can not express to you in words the level of disappointment I felt when I discovered there are zero clips of Joba available.

Have a marvelous weekend.

Update: Commenter TJ provided a link to Humberto Sanchez's Future's Game performance. As I mentioned in the Sanchez's Prospect Profile (which appears to dropped off the face of the WWW), he pitched 1 perfect inning, striking out Stephen Drew, getting a 6-3 groundout from Howie Kendrick, and freezing Alex Gordon on a called strike 3. Good stuff from the South Bronx native, thanks for the link.
