The Staten Island Yankees are playing their archrival Brooklyn Cyclones on SNY tonight. Should be worth watching until Phil Hughes takes on the Angels at 10. I just started watching, but I'll post my thoughts. Chris Farley is on the mound, and looks very strong. He is showing good control of a fastball touching 94-96, a sharp curveball that has plus potential, and a decent changeup. The Yanks might have found another indy league gem. Farley has struck out 6 through 3 innings, but and gave up a run on a HBP, a walk and a hit. The Yanks trail 1-0 after 3. Farley was lifted after 4 innings, with an impressive line of 1 hit, 2 walks, 1 run, and 7 strikeouts. Ryan Zink relieved, and struck out 2 in 2 scoreless innings. His fastball was sitting around 91-92, and also flashed a nice 12-6 curveball. The Cyclones showed tremendous respect for Justin Snyder, the NY-P league's leading hitter. Snyder was intentionally walked with a runner in scoring position and 2 outs. The game just ended, as the Yankees were shut out, going down 1-2-3 in the 9th inning (even if the 3rd out should have been safe because of a bad call by the umpire) to the Mets' top draft pick this season, former Oregon State closer Eddie Kunz.  The Yankees had 6 hits, but held the Cyclones to only 3. Damon Sublett and Braedyn Pruitt looked good at the plate, and the Yankee pitching, especially Farley, looked strong against one of the league's top teams.  I think the Yankees and Cyclones could wind up meeting again in the playoffs, as both teams look very good.
