Scranton stops Syracuse, 9-6
  • Kei Igawa continued his frustrating performance, giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits (2 homers) and a walk in 6 2/3 innings, while also striking out 8. He has shown the ability to strike batters out at every level he has played at, but he can't seem to keep the ball in the park.
  • Brian Bruney gave up 2 hits in 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
  • Jose Veras struck out 2 and allowed a hit in 1 inning of relief.
  • Brett Gardner was 1 for 3 with a walk and a steal, but was also picked off.
  • Alberto Gonzalez was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run. He has really hit well since returning to AAA.
  • Eric Duncanwas 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a home run, raising his average to .235.
  • Wil Nieves was 2 for 4.
Trenton tops Portland, 8-4
  • Alan Horne out-dueled Red Sox prospect Justin Masterson (who was roughed up for 7 runs in 5 innings), giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings, and striking out 6.
  • Scott Patterson struck out 2 and walked 1 in 2 innings of relief, lowering his ERA to 0.96.
  • Colin Curtis was 1 for 5.
  • Juan Miranda was 3 for 4.
  • Matt Carson was 3 for 4 with a double.
  • PJ Pilittere was 2 for 4.
  • Gabe Lopez was 4 for 4 with a double.
Tampa falls to Fort Myers, 9-5
  • Brett Smith continued to struggle since his demotion, giving up 8 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings. His ERA is 10.13 in the FSL after pitching well in AA, so something must not be right with him, either physically or mentally.
  • Eduardo Nunez and Chris Malec were each 1 for 4.
  • Austin Jackson was 2 for 3 with a walk.
  • Marcos Vechionacci was 1 for 3.
  • Andres Perez was 2 for 4 with a triple.
  • Jared Greenwood was 1 for 3, but also made 2 errors.
Charleston was off tonight. Staten Island over Aberdeen, 9-5
  • Ryan Pope continued his strong pitching, giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits and a walk in 5 innings, and striking out 3. This outing lowered the 3rd-round pick's ERA to 2.19 on the season.
  • Justin Snyder was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, increasing his already impressive OBP.
  • Damon Sublett was 0 for 2 with 3 walks, and was also caught stealing and picked off.
  • Braedyn Pruitt was 1 for 4 with a walk.
  • Dave Williams was 2 for 4 with a walk and a double.
  • Austin Krum was 2 for 5 with a double and a stolen base.
  • Ryan Wehrle was 1 for 4.
  • Isiah Howes was 2 for 5 with a double, a steal and a homer.
GCL Yanks bash Blue Jays, 7-1
  • Kelvin Perez started, giving up just 1 walk in a shutout inning.
  • Dickson Marquez pitched 5 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 2.
  • Abe Almonte, playing centerfield, was 1 for 3.
  • Prilys Cuello was 2 for 4 with his 6th home run.
  • Brandon Laird continued to rake, going 3 for 4 with a double.
  • Jesus Montero was 1 for 4.
  • Wady Rufino and Kelvin Castro were each 2 for 4 with a double.
