• Matt DeSalvo probably made himself the front-runner to replace the ineffective Mike Mussina by giving up a run on 7 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings, and striking out 9.
• Jose Cruz was 4 for 5 with 3 doubles.
• Doug Mientkiewicz was 1 for 5.
• Angel Chavez was 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk.
• Bronson Sardinha was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
• Alberto Gonzalez was 3 for 5 with a double.
• Eric Duncan was 2 for 5, pushing his batting average to a lofty .234.
• Andy Cannizaro was 1 for 3 with a walk.

• Daniel McCutchen was mediocre for the 2nd straight game, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks, and striking out 3.

SI Yanks outlast Lowell, 2-1

• Ryan Pope had another dominant start, giving up just 3 hits in 6 shutout innings, striking out 8 in the process. This outing lowered his ERA to 1.96, and he has 38 strikeouts and only 9 walks in 36 2/3 innings of work.
• Jonathan Ortiz got his 12th save by striking out 5 in 2 innings of work, allowing 1 hit and 2 walks in the process.
• Justin Snyder was 2 for 4 with a double.
• Braedyn Pruitt and Chris Raber were each 1 for 4.

The GCL Yankees' game against the Indians was cancelled, and they are now in the GCL playoffs.
