Scranton 3, Syracuse 4 in 14 innings.

  • Ross Ohlendorf got the start and pitched a great game.  He lasted six innings, allowing only a solo homerun, two walks, and two hits.
  • TJ Beam pitched a clean inning in relief, walking one, striking out one, and allowing one hit.
  • Ron Villone also pitched one inning, and allowed three hits and a walk, giving Syracuse three runs and earning his first blown save of the year.
  • Erick Burke pitched two scoreless innings, walking two and allowing one hit.
  • Charlie Manning pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, walking one, and striking out five of the batters he faced.
  • Ben Kozlowski lost the game in the 14th inning, allowing Sal Fasano to score off of Ray Olmedo's single to center.
  • Alberto Gonzalez went 1-7 with a triple and 2 RBI, and scored on a throwing error.
  • Eric Ducan went 2-5 and walked
  • Bronson Sardinha was 1-5 with a walk

Trenton 2 - BMets 5

  • Trenton's 8 game win streak and 49 inning scoreless inning streak were both snapped in the loss.
  • Jeff Marquez allowed four unearned runs in five innings, taking the loss.
  • PJ Pilittere had both Thunder RBI on the night with a single in the first inning.  He was 2-4 on the night.
  • Aarom Baldiris' error started the four-run inning for the BMets.
  • Outfielder Matt Carson missed a game-tying HR in the 9th by just a few feet.
  • Ramiro Pena was 2-4 on the night with a walk
  • Paul Thorpe allowed the only earned run on two hits in one inning of work.

Somebody oughta build a boat and board two of every position player, 'cause this rain is just nonstop.  Charleston's game against the Kannapolis Intimidators [great name?] was rained out. The teams will play two seven-inning games tomorrow.

 Tampa 4 - Fort Meyers 3

  • Chien-Ming Wang pitched five innings in (hopefully) his last rehab start.  He was rocky, giving up five hits, three runs and one walk in 5.0 innings of baseball.  His troubles only came in the third inning, though, so the numbers look slightly worse than they actually are.
  • Jonathan Ortiz, on the other hand, looked like a pro in his first start of 2007.  He pitched three innings of hitless ball, fanning seven Fort Meyers batters.  Ortiz was lights-out in the Dominican Summer League last year, going 4-0 with a 0.71 ERA in 18 games.  Over 51 innings pitched, he allowed only 24 hits and five runs.  Keep your eye on this guy.
  • Jose Valdez pitched the 9th inning, allowing just one hit and picking up his first win of the season.
  • Reegie Corona went 4-for-5 with three RBI, and two doubles, ending the game on a 2-bag drive in the 9th inning.  He also scored the only Tampa run not brought home by himself on a single by Jose Tabata, who went 1-4 on the night.
